Informasjon om sikkerhetssituasjonen i Kenya
ODM–talsmann Salim Lone har på BBC-radio i dag framholdt at inneværende dags demonstrasjoner markerer avslutningen av «mass action» og overgang til målrettede tiltak, inkludert boycott og streik, rettet mot økonomiske interesser eid og kontrolllert av Kibakis sterkeste støttespillere. ODM-talsmannen nevnte eksplisitt det store meieriet Brookside, Equity Bank, buss-selskapet City Hopper, Kenya Bus services og andre transportselskaper. Ambassaden presiserer at dette ikke er en garanti for at det ikke vil kunne tillyses nye demonstrasjoner og at målrettede aksjoner – både mot de mål som er nevnt og eventuelle andre – også kan ha sikkerhets-implikasjoner som er relevante for norske borgere. Vedlagt nederst i denne meldingen har ambassaden valgt å vedlegge informasjon publisert av den amerikanske ambassaden. Vårt råd til norske borgere i Kenya er fortsatt følgende:På grunn av den uforutsigbare sikkerhetssituasjonen i Kenya anbefales norske borgere som velger å forbli i Kenya til å holde seg oppdatert på den lokale sikkerhetssituasjonen gjennom media og andre tilgjengelige informasjonskilder. Dersom det er uroligheter i det aktuelle området oppfordres norske borgere til å holde seg innendørs i så stor grad som mulig. Hvis en etter en fortløpende vurdering av sikkerhets- og behovssituasjonen anser det for påkrevet å bevege seg utendørs, anbefales norske borgere å unngå store folkemengder.
Reisevirksomhet i landet bør kun foretas etter en nøye behovs– og sikkerhetsvurdering.

Warden Message: Kenya Travel Route Advisory
The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi would like to alert American citizens in Kenya to the «Kenya Travel Route Advisory» which the Embassy has posted to its Internet website at: http://nairobi.usembassy.gov. The «Kenya Travel Route Advisory» provides details on the current security situation of the roads to most major game park destinations as presently known. Please refer to this document which we intend to update periodically.
